Why Change Ruins Everything by Grace Saywer [Term 1, Narrative, English Assignment]
I used to be happy. My life was perfect. Both my parents supported me as an athlete and soccer player, and though they wanted me to be more artistic, they loved me just the way I was.
I think that, because I was so happy, I didn't realise it. I wanted more. I wanted to start up an after-school soccer team, to win cross-country, to get my name in papers, to become famous, to coach an Olympic soccer-player... so many dreams, so many wishes.
Now, I don't want any of that.
I just want my life back.
Teacher's Comments: Wonderful portrayal of a young girl. Is her character based off you? I would work on making it a little specific: what happened to make her life this way? You need about a hundred words more in order to get a C. It sounds a lot more than it is. Also, the main problem with this text is how it doesn't follow the narrative format. Remember: orientation, complication, resolution and conclusion. Without a clear structure, I can't give you the high mark you deserve.
Happy holidays!

Hello my beautiful readers,
The big reveal is over. The cat is out of the bag. I have the title, the manuscript and my publisher ready for my next novel. It will be released sometime in the next two months, so look out for His Desire hitting your nearest bookstores. Apparently, there's a really beautiful cover (according to my agent) but she won't let me see it just yet. I hope it's as gorgeous as my readers!
*fingers crossed*
But I started with a positive note because I'll be ending with a negative one. His Desire will be my last novel for the time-being, as I'm taking a break. You know, roam around Paris, go out on family outings (my Grace is almost a teenager now!) and catch up with family. You know, all that jazz. I'm so looking forward to opening this new door in my life, but I feel so sad to close this one.
I promise to blog regularly.
Love,
Iris xx

[3 months ago] PietraIsSmiling: Iris! You are my absolute favourite author. Your characters, the romance, the suspense: I love it all. I bought His Desire the minute it hit the bookstores. The owner thought I was insane, lol. Anyway, I'm so sad about you not writing anymore! But I suppose family comes first. Good luck on your hiatus! I love your books.
[6 weeks ago] AngelicaMcKenzie: Although I'm not a big fan of your writing, my daugther loves it. Can't catch her not reading one of your novels. But I'm concerned about the shallowness you introduce to the world. His Desire is, in all respect, is obscene. It is everything I stand against rolled up into one world. How do you feel, introducing young girls into a mad world, encouraging them to chase cowboys with six-pack abs or policemen who arrest them for illegal things? Do you want the youth of today commiting more crimes?
[2 week ago] xXStardust1292XxX: his desire does not promote crimes. young ppl aren't gonna change their personalities just cuz of one book. Im only 9 and I love Mrs Sawyer's books. She rulz. (Sent from iPod Touch)
[1 day ago] WorrisomeBeauty: Funny, it's been 6 weeks since Iris got that negative comment. Six weeks have gone by, and she hasn't defended herself once. She hasn't even blogged about this, naming the person directly and bashing their opinion, one by one. Maybe it's for the best. But...that's not like Iris at all. I'm genuinely concerned.
